(UK Specifications | Early UK RV8's Differ from later production car)
We all realise the MGRV8 was British Designed and Built in a low volume production facility under the Rover parent company.
The RV8 was originally intended for MG enthusiasts within the United Kingdom.
However as the cost of the finished product rose to 26,500 British Pounds sales slowed dramatically and the whole project was rescued by the then very wealthy Japanese and 75% of the total production was exported to Japan.
The Japanese market was responsible for many changes the most significant being the inclusion of air conditioning.
UK RV8’s are the real deal and have not been modified as were the exported cars. They remain unaltered and have not had to undergo modifications like Australian RV8’s (re the Australian Design Rules).
