Hello Jim

Its been very long time since we exchanged emails i recall - Just nice to see u are still on-board here!!!! This website is so important to all of us...THANKS AGAIN FOR THE GREAT WORK I still live in NYC but will likely move to Lisbon hopefully very soon. My MG is still in France but am looking to send it to Lisbon and if anyone here has one there i would love to get in touch - i remember too well the head ache to have it registered in France from UK. My email is [email protected] MGRV8 XXXX0611 1993
Thanks a lot. Rodolphe

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:

Hello Rodolphe,

Thank you for your kind words.

Yes, it has been a while since we last communicated and I'm pleased to see you and your RV8 are in fine health.

I've just checked my RV8 Register and I have no owner listed in Lisbon.

I now have 1722 RV8's registered and have VIN 681 Woodcote Green listed in Portugal. I'll email you with what I have.

Let me know when you move and I will update the register.

Best Regards Jim

Hello again Jim,
I got involved with too many other projects so its taken us a while to get the RV8 back on the road. Tested late last month and taxed on my 70th birthday on June 1st.

Done about 300 miles so far and attended a rally in John OGroats last weekend and it performed well and attracted a great amount of interest, surprisingly few people know much about the existence of these cars.
Best Regards,
Ian

Look forward to viewing the forum page, cant get to it as often as I would like.

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Ian,

I discontinued the forum page sometime ago. The V8 Register in the UK did have a Forum Page, however I believe it has now been closed. The V8 Register does have a Technical Support section which may be what your are looking for. Also you could try the MG Car Club or the MG Owners Club.

Cheers
Jim

I have owned and restored MG cars since the 70's. A concours win with an 'A was very nice, but I have always wanted an RV8. Finally, I recently imported a Japanese model (1834) and have been re commissioning it. This gives as much pleasure as the driving and the car is such a pleasure to own. There are also some nice people in the Register and I really enjoyed your excellent site.
With best wishes
RH

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Robert,
Welcome to RV8 ownership, I'm sure you will enjoy your new purchase.
It is also nice to see another RV8 rescued out of Japan and in the hands of an MG Enthusiast.
Best Regards
Jim

Is there an MGR V8 forum that is still live. have looked at v8registerdata.net but seems to have stopped postings in 2012

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Bev,

Sorry, the only MGRV8 Forum I knew was run by the V8 Register. The Register does however have a Technical Support Section which may meet your requirements. Otherwise you could try the MG Car Club or the MG Owners Club....( I have previously corresponded with Roger Parker through the MG Owners Club, he is an absolute wealth of knowledge ).

Great site. I'm now the proud owner of my first classic car an RV8 Reg No. M519 UTF. Only 6910 miles since new and in mint original condition. Once I have all the details I'll try to trace the history thru this site.

It's in the dealers workshop at the moment waiting for me to clear my garage for it to live in. Very excited.

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hello Melvyn,

Welcome to RV8 ownership, I'm sure you will find ownership a very enjoyable and rewarding experience. Love to display your car in the Owners Display Section once you get everything sorted....

Cheers Jim.

Currently running a 1978 MGB roadster but would LOVE to get my hands on a RV8.
Haven't seen any in the USA. If there are any then where do they live ?

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Ian,
I only know of two in the United States and both of these were brought into the US in pieces due to the strict US vehicle import laws and the only way of avoiding these laws was to go around them. The one in Ohio was built up from all new spare parts (see my RV8 Specials Section)....The other was purchased in the Cayman Islands by Tom Raddish (Chicago) completely stripped down and imported as spare parts....Unfortunately Tom had to sell his RV8 due to the GFC and I don't know where his car went....Canada now has several RV8's which is your closest source but again the current US Importation Laws are a real problem....

Regards Jim

I am looking or the racing history of my mgrv8 reg no K 398 FDU, it was raced in the Phoenix races back in 1993. I am interested in the body transfers that was on the car as I wish to reproduce the car in its original race trim,

Once again check with Clive Wheatley he may be able to assist or point you in the right direction...

What a great site - a credit to you all down under. We have recently come into the RV8 "family" - there is a lot of info about, but your site lists it very well.
Just discovered that the previous owner fitted 11 inch wiper blades; the take great bits out of the screen rubber!!

Just about to take delivery of an early RV8 in BRG - in a sorry state at the moment. As soon as it's in my garage, I'll register it with the site and give full details and my intentions with it. It was only on the road until 1999 when it was brought to Orkney and left for many years in a showroom. Someone tried for an MOT in 2014 without success and I saw it parked down an alley outside in foul weather. I think I have just got to it in time - another winter might have seen it off.
Found your brilliant site which I'm sure I'll be visiting regularly from now on.

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Ian,
So pleased you have rescued this RV8 and hopefully you will be able to restore it to its former glory. May I suggest you check out Clive Wheatley websit www.mgv8parts.com as Clive has invested a lot of money in having many RV8 parts re manufactured and we need to support him. Good Luck with the task ahead of you and hopefully you will soon have your RV8 back on the road.
Also thank you for your kind comment regarding my website.
Cheers Jim

Couldn't agree more from the time the engine starts to when you return home, the RV8 is always a pleasure to drive.
