I’d like to say a big thank you for all the information on this site as I found it very helpful on getting to know everything about this fantastic car.

Kind regards Terry

Interesting website. I’m almost convinced this is the car for us. We’ve had a 1973 MGB roadster and a 69 MGBGT. Enjoyed both for many years. At 72 we feel we just need that open air feeling, rather than a panoramic roof!
Looking at one in the autotrader, very low miles ex Japan many years ago. Asking more than the original new price at £28500 seems at the top end. It would need to be spot on and maybe I’ll have a look.
Regards,
Phil Mueller

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Phil,
Being based in the UK you are very well placed for owning an MGRV8. The car you are looking at is a little expensive but you only get what you pay for. (also remember it is the asking price).
Have you checked the V8 Register ? My links page also has some very useful UK websites. The V8 Register also has several RV8's For Sale.
I would also advise a professional mechanical inspection before purchase (which is money well spent and will save you from any supp rises later on). Good Luck with your decision.......
Regards
Jim

Hello Jim,
hello Mario from Hamburg,

I love my MG RV8 and after 2.500 km driven there were only minor problems with the car. Mainly minimal oilstains can be found on the grage floor. Here I have to find the cause of this in the next time.

@ Mario from Hamburg: We should definitely meet once. Enclosed my mobil number 0170 - 927 27 36. WhatsApp is recommended.

Best Regards
Michael

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Mario,
Nice to hear from you. It would appear 1855 is in good hands with an enthusiast owner. Unfortunately oil leaks are a common problem (with our cars now approaching 30 years old) and unless they are excessive most owners tend to accept them. I have a slight leak from the sump gasket and intend to change the gasket soon. Otherwise I'm lucky with my car and this seems to be the only oil leaking problem I have.
Regards
Jim

Hi Jim,

I bought my first MG last year in germany. Of course it's a RV8 in black colour with low milage. Unfortunatly I couldn't enjoy this car because I got the MG in the beginning of wintertime.

Whatever! I used the wintertime to check the car and I cannot wait for season to start probebly. Until then I like to be on your website.

Best Regards
Michael

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Michael,
Nice to hear from you, Black is a very rare colour in RV8's and I'm sure your car will attract a lot of attention in this rare colour. I also run an RV8 register and have 1622 RV8's World Wide collected over the last 23 years and this number includes 30 in Germany including a Black LHD VIN 802. Is this the car you have just bought ? Hopefully the weather will soon change and you can enjoy your RV8 to the fullest. Regards Jim

Hi,

My MGRV8 number 742 has Chrome mirrors in the front guards? Looking through the owners Photos I cant see any other cars like this?
have mine been added like this, what is the original supposed to be?

Regard's Phil

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hello Phil,
Chrome Mirrors fitted to the front (wings) guards is certainly not standard and have been attached by a former owner. The correct rear vision mirrors are attached to the doors and are moldered black plastic.

Thank you for this fantastic RV8 resource.
I especially like the underneath images showing what an RV8 should look like.
Just starting the search for my own car - hopefully I'll be contacting you again in the near future with the details.
Thanks again
Richard

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hello Richard,
It is pleasing to get your feed back and kind comment.
You are certainly in the right country for finding an RV8, as the UK has by far the most choice.
May I offer some advice in your search always the best example you can afford as a restoration of a poor example will end up costing your more in the long run.
Re the underneath images are of my Concours car and it took a lot of hard work getting it to that standard.
Cheers
Jim

Thank you for your registration I hope 1199 gives you many hours of enjoyment.

Hi Jim. I think its time to add 1511 to the register.. but its not quite clear how to do this.. and with a photo.
And how do you handle the situation when the car sells and it has a new owner?
Also, I have a photo of No.1 production car (? 00251) taken at Longbridge, UK.. which might be nice to have on the gallery - if we are allowed to.
Cheers, Alan

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hello Alan,
No problem just fill in the proforma and attach a photo...try and keep the photo to around 2mb in size.

When cars change hands the majority of owners don't notify me. Therefore the car will remain displayed under the former owner, unless I'm contacted by the new owner. It is difficult to ensure the Owners Display is always current.

Yes I agree 251 would be nice to Display.

Regards
Jim

Will look to join local MG club once vehicle is here and registered, have owned 2 MGCGT's in the past one new bought in Port Moresby PNG 1969 the other purchased in 1982 from dealer in Surfers Paradise

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi John,
Nice to see a former MG owner returning to the fold.

Welcome to RV8 ownership, I hope the compliance goes well.

Currently RV8 prices have gone through the roof and I'm doubtful the asking prices will be achieved. I have just posted an RV8 For Sale on my website and it lasted one day before being sold. The car in question was priced sense ably at $40 K and sold quickly.

Cheers
Jim

Fantastic piece of work

Well done

I am actively looking for an MGR V8.
I currently have an MG TF which is the fourth MG that I have owned.
My preference colour would be red but Im happy to consider blue or white gold.
I would prefer a good low mileage well maintained UK car over an import, however as these seem to be fairly rare perhaps eventually I will have to consider a Japanese import.

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Gary,
You are certainly in the best country to find what you are looking for. I constantly check the UK RV8's for sale and these cars do appear. Have you checked the V8 Register Cars For Sale section ?
Good Luck in your search.
Cheers
Jim

I just purchased 001824 and I am in the process of having it shipped to the United States. I won't actually get it until late February because of 36 days at sea. I purchased this car without driving it, so I'm to sure what to expect. I also own a 1970 MGB roadster which I drive often. I recently sold a 1991 Marcos Mantula Spyder which had a 4.6L version of the engine with EFI. I'm also putting together a database for my phone with the information about owners and cars and colors etc.

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Dave,
Welcome to RV8 ownership I'm sure you will enjoy the experience.
Nice to see another RV8 in the hands of an enthusiast and I'm sure your car will attract a lot of attention being so rare in the United States.

Hi, wow what a great car, I owned a 911 C2 Carrera for seven years and that was great but I'm edging this ahead of that :-)

I'm trying to add a photo to the register your vehicle page but it keeps failing? what sort of file is required for this please

regards Phil

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Phil,
With regards to the file it needs to be jpg image and less then 4mb in size - any problems let me know.
Also you may be interested to know, I keep the MGRV8 Register and New Zealand now has 47 MGRV8's.
Regards
Jim
